John Nambu Memorial Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã

Application OPEN. Apply Now! Deadline February 9, 2024.

The John Nambu Memorial Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) offers intensive research opportunities with stipend support for FAU undergraduates sponsored by the Jupiter Life Science Initiative. Established in the memory of the late Dr. John Nambu, Professor in the Biological Sciences Department, the program provides undergraduates an opportunity to perform cutting-edge research in life science labs on the FAU Jupiter campus. These fellowships are exciting and once-in-a-lifetime chances to perform research while expanding scientific expertise through networking with fellow undergrads and faculty mentors, writing and presentations skills. Students often complete a thesis through the ten-week program that runs ~35-39 ours/week during the summer semester (May 13 - July 26), with the option of continuing their research into the next academic year. Stipend is $6,000. The REU experience concludes by highlighting student accomplishments and summer research projects at the annual Nambu REU Research Day.

Eligibility Criteria

Undergraduates will be competitively chosen to conduct intensive research in sophisticated life science labs. Sophomores and juniors are especially encouraged to apply. Prior/current acceptance into a Jupiter-based lab is encouraged, but not required. Complete online application and submit (unofficial) transcripts for evaluation by the selection committee. If already accepted in a laboratory, please ask host/lab mentor to complete mentor form. Application deadline: February 9, 2024. Contact Dr. Bethany Stanhope (bstanhope@fau.edu) for more information.
